Feeling Lost and Need Dough? Get Hired. Get Paid. Quick.

If you’re ready to get hired, then take advantage of some low-education, mid-range salary jobs that are mostly utilized by men. The pay is worth the low effort and cost of education. If you have no direction, this could be the solution for you.

There are lots of women who go to college. Plenty of women in high-level jobs.

But if you aren’t sure what you want to do and want money–like now–then male-dominated fields are a great place to look. These make easy cash without a ton of education. Whether you’re looking for college degree alternatives, or need a stream of income to fill the space in-between dream careers, here are some options…

Basic Jobs

There are definitely a few careers you are missing out on because they seem “basic” —  like becoming a postal worker, truck driver, or correctional officer. These are jobs to step into when you are young, under-trained, or want to make twenty bucks an hour. That’s right, postal workers make twenty bucks an hour, as do truck drivers, and correctional officers.

These aren’t jobs you need a degree for, and if you are one of the almost 14 percent of unemployed millennials, it can keep you afloat for a moment. These could be a place to jump while looking for the next best thing. Instead of waitressing until you find something, jump a pay grade while you hibernate for the perfect job.

Fixer Fiona (a.k.a. Short-Term Repairs)

You could try some fun, semi-labor intensive jobs. Like plumbing or carpentry. You’d be part of a union, get great benefits, and have constant work. If there are robots built to make houses, furniture, and come for your job, you can still do repairs or build custom fixtures like wood lockers or beautiful furniture. There’s always work for a person who can fix things. You could even repair computers (in some cases it’s a 48-hour course) and make that “mid-twenties per hour money.”

There is value in knowing how to do things with your hands and having a fallback career. Becoming a fixer if you aren’t sure what to do is a great way to back yourself up when you don’t know what you want to do. It’s the perfect filler for those who are young, lacking in formal education and have no idea what they want.

Labor Jobs With a Little Education

There’s a couple jobs that can help you accomplish a few life goals without creating a ton of educational debt or limiting your growth potential. Do you want to travel and make $70K a year? Try becoming a nuclear technician, the qualifications can be completed in some schools under a two-year program! Don’t want to deal with radiation? Give air traffic control a try. There’s a lot of careers that pay with a two-year degree.

If you aren’t sure what you want to do, invest two years in giving yourself an economically viable option for the future. If you aren’t sure what you want to do, pick something that meets your base wants, whether it’s sitting in air conditioning, money, or unlimited coffee. There are a million options out there; maybe you won’t find the one made for you, but one that works for you is definitely available.

If you’re ready to get hired, take advantage of some low-education, mid-range salary jobs that are mostly utilized by men. The pay is worth the low effort and cost of education. If you have no direction, this could be the solution for you.
